Abstract: A computer-aided Missile Preliminary Design(MPD) has been studied. It contains three main models:longitudinal aerodynamic characteristics model, solid modeling model for overall configuration and subassembly layout and mass properties module. These three models are combined efficiently and the synthetic method ofdetermining design scheme can be obtained in accordance with the overall performance requirements specified in the missile preliminary de- sign phase. The results indicate that they satisfy the corresponding requirments of missile prelim- inary design. It can be used for the analysis and design for both existing and new types of missiles. It is also easy for extension, updating and spread in the foture.

Key words: missile design, computer aided design, configuration, subassemblies
