Abstract: The fatigue life and residual strength after corrosion damage tests for laboratory specimens of LY12-CZ aluminum have been investigated. Under the conditions of several temperatures and durations of corroding, the specimens are exposed in corrosion solutions. Corrosion pits are artificially introduced according to ASTM standard G34-1. After getting the corrosion damage data, the fatigue tests are carried out. The primary relationship of the degradation of fatigue life and the corrosion damage are build. On the base of text result, the AFGROW software is used to simulate the influence of a variety of corrosion damages and corrosion pit depths on the specimen’s fatigue life and residual strength. An effective engineering technique for predicting fatigue life and residual strength of corroded specimen is established on the base of this research work.
