FAILURE ANALYSIS OF AN ELASTIC-PLASTIC RING SERIES SYSTEM SUBJECTED TO INTENSE DYNAMIC LOADING

Abstract: Based on the load deformation relationship of an elastic plastic ring subjected to step loading, the elastic plastic ring series system become an equivalent has elastic plastic mass springs system.The response of the mass spring system under intense dynamic loading was studied. Emphasis is focused on the propagation of the plastic failure of the rings. The result from the present theoretical model is compared with numerical solutions by using FEA and experimental data made by Reid and Reddy.The agreement is good.
