Abstract:

This paper proposes a procedure diagram for NC planning/programming to analyze and decrease deformation through preventive simulation, which views the workpiece as an elastic body with deformation, establishes the mechanical and technological model involving the real process constraints(such as locating and supporting) and loads(cutting, clamping and supporting forces), and checks the micro-errors(deformation) through the FEA(Finite Element Analysis) of the workpiece. In order to decrease deformation, this paper presents four different improvement approaches or techniques. By consequently utilizing all these four approaches according to the process quality cost trends, the optimization process environment which leads to higher machining quality can be gradually achieved prior to actual machining. Finally, this paper describes an experimental study about an aerospace thin-walled frame to validate the proposed diagram and four approaches.
