Abstract: Based on a survey of current track initiation methods, this article focuses on research of track initiation models under airborne pulse Doppler radar environment for engineering implementation, and one universal track initiation model suitable for various track initiation conditions is presented. The main idea is that one intermediate track is added to the current common track initiation model, and that the whole track initiation process is processed by stages, for which different track initiation methods and thresholds are used. This made the physical concept of the overall track initiation process and the processing steps much clearer, the threshold setting more reasonable, and file management more convenient. Furthermore, track initiation split and missing, which are problems common to the current track initiation model, are improved. Monte Carlo simulation results show that the universal track initiation model can improve design flexibility, standardize track initiation deign, and increase the probability of correct track initiation.
