A Structural Optimization Method for Aircraft Family

Abstract:

The aircraft family is a set of aircraft that uses common components or common subsystems while meeting different performance or operational requirements. A new structural optimization method based on the strategy of two level optimization and surrogate models is proposed for an aircraft family with common modules. The optimization procedure is divided into two levels: optimization for common components and optimization for individual components.
