Abstract: The 30mm x 30mm five-component magnetic suspension and balance system (MSBS) is composed of a set of magnets, an electromagnetic position sensor, a controller of magnetic suspension, and a measurer of aero-dynamic forces, which has been tested in a low speed wind tunnel. In this paper, the main results of its magnetic suspension part are described, including design theory and configuration of the magnets, work principle and mathematical model of the sensor, laws of control, and problems in engineering.
