Abstract: Carbon fiber T300 is chosen as a co-hybrid fiber, and two different kinds UHMWPE fiber/T300 hybrid composites are prepared in both inner-laminar and inter-laminar styles. The inter-laminar hybrid composites exhibite better adhesion than the inner-laminar ones. VE resin which is synthesized in lab increases the adhesion by 25 % in comparison to epoxy resin E-51.For the optimized system DC88/T300/ VE, the ILSS reaches 42.5MPa, 5 times of the untreated DC88/ E-51 system. ILSS increases with the increasing of resin content at first, and then decreases with further increase, so that a maximum ILSS is obtained in each of the resin systems. The VE peak occurres at a lower resin content range than E-51 peak, indicating VE has a better adhesion with DC88 than epoxy resin E-51.The density of hybrid composites changes from 1.12 g/cm3 to 1.24 g/cm3, which suggestes that the hybrid composite has a potential application in space structures.
