Abstract: In order to solve the problems that exist in traditional material support system simulation, a concept of virtual support systems was presented based on the understanding of the physical meaning of a support system, and the characteristics and advantages of such a system were analyzed. The technique framework for a material virtual support system was constructed, which consists of four basic components—support object modeling, system mission modeling, support system modeling, discrete event simulation and visualization simulation. In the process of modeling, the entity’ three dimensional models were constructed, including the objects of support and the resources of a support system. The virtual design environment was constructed and the operational process and evaluation of virtual support systems were studied. This virtual support system could provide effective technical support for the design, analysis, and evaluation of support systems in the development and operational phase of materials.
