Abstract:

Integrated modular avionics (IMA) technology is becoming the main trend of modern avionics. Based on the definition of Radio Technical Commission for Aeronautics (RTCA), this paper introduces the development process and technology tendency of aircraft environment surveillance system (AESS). With Airbus A380, Boeing787 AESS as examples, it also analyzes the status quo for AESS. According to ARINC768 standards, the prototype and framework of a so-called integrated aircraft environment surveillance system (IAESS) is designed, which realizes the data synthesis and the information processing consistency for T3CAS (TCAS, TAWS and ATCRBS) and WXR by the integrated aircraft environment surveiuance system processing unit (IAESSPU). Then a digital simulation for the IAESS is performed based on high level architecture (HLA). The test examples and simulation performance are analyzed too. The results verify the high reliability, low power consumption and low volume of the IAESS. Future development of IAESS is also discussed.
