Abstract:

A model to predict the uniaxial tensile strength of the 4-step 3D braided rectangular composite with low braiding angle is established. By the scheme of discretization, the iso-strain and iso-stress mixed averaging assumptions are applied to analyze the elastic mechanical properties of the material. Coupled with the bridging model, the stress distribution in the fibers and matrix are obtained. Based on the failure criteria of the constituents of the material, failure mechanism of the materials under the tensile load is disclosed and the model predictes the tensile strength is efficient.
