Abstract:

The turbulent flow in a plane cascade is numerically studied using the Speziale's non linear k-ε turbulence model. And the results are compared with those of the standard k-ε turbulence model, which shows that the non linear k-ε  turbulence model can also be used in the complex flow field with periodic boundary conditions such as the turbulent flow in the plane cascade, although it is a strong non linear model. The numerical results of the above two turbulence models, such as the pressure recovery coefficient of the cascade, the main stream velocities at the three sections and the turbulent kinetics at the middle and exit sections are very near. But the normal Reynolds stress differences can be obviously yielded only by the non linear k-ε turbulence model.
