Abstract: A new high-order plate bending displacement field is developed for the analysis of composite laminated plates such a displacement field considers reasonably the effect of transverse shear deformation, which satisfies the zero shear stress conditions at the upper and bottom surfaces, and gives up the assumption of εz = 0,The model considers also delaminated plates; the delaminated element stiffness matrix can be proposed by changing transverse shear stress distribution of delaminated element. Consequently, a two dimensional finite element model, which gives solutions approximately equivalent to those of three dimensional elasticity, is established. The finite element model ran be applied to thin or thick composite laminated plates and delaminated plates bending vibration problems. The authors' model gives computed natural frequencies and vibration modes of composite laminated plate that agree fairly well with experimental results.
