Abstract:

Measurements of benefit contributions of R&D projects to system goals have been playing an important role in R&D project selection process. Because of fuzziness and uncertainty of the benefit contributions, it is difficult to measure it exactly and objectively. In this paper,a fuzzy measurement of benefit contributions by using fuzzy ISODATA algorithms is presented along with a real world case example-the R&D project selection of aircraft engine of china. The 14 project candidates are fuzzily classified as 3 classes in terms of the evaluation of their benefit contributions made by 12 experts. It is concluded that the fuzzy ISODATA algorithm is an effective method for R&D project selection.
