Effect of Corrosion Temperature on Fatigue Life of Aircraft

Abstract: As is now well known, corrosion environment has effect on the fatigue life of aircraft. In order to resolve the above-mentioned problem,the flight environment of aircraft which flies in high-altitude (-50℃) is simulated in ground testing room and corrosion test and statistics are made for aeronautical metals. Here corrosion test curves of three kinds of aeronautical materials (LY12CZ,LC4CS aluminum alloy and 30CrMnSiA alloy steel) are given as shown in Fig. 1, Fig. 2 and Fig. 3. It can be seen from the corrosion curves that there is on effect on the fatigue life of aircraft when the corrosion temperature is -50℃.
