Abstract:

A special technique was proposed for producing TC11 alloy blade forgings meeting the GJB requirements from the stocks with non uniform microstructures revealed by ultrasonic inspection. The stocks containing blocky α,grain boundary α or twisted and elongated α packets first were subjected to β treatment followed by water quenching in order to obtain martensitic structures (α).Then the strain of blade body and platform or root positions was controlled more than 50% in die forging process. The forging temperature was lower than β transformed temperature, i.e., T β-50℃. The first annealing temperature was raised from T β-50℃ to T β-40℃. The annealing time was taken as 3 hours. Finally, the macro and microstructures and room temperature mechanical properties of blade die forgings completely meet the requirements of GJB 494 88.
