Abstract:

The effect of Ce element on Ti-alloy anodization was studied. The influence of Ce element on the integrality of an oxide film was discussed, through the comparison of SEM micrography between a rare-earth oxide film and a traditional one. With the energy spectrum analysis of the film, it was shown that the oxidation of Ti-alloy surface was more sufficient by using rare-earth anodization than by the traditional oxidation, and there was a certain amount of Ce element in the oxide film. The influence of Ce element on the thickness of the film was presented by analyzing SEM micrography of the transverse section of the oxide film. By potentidynamic polarization, the resistance to pit corrosion was studied. And there was an improvement in the pit-corrosion resistance of the rare-earth oxide film.

Key words: Ce element, oxide film, corrosion resistance, titanium alloy, anodization
