Parameter Matching Characteristics of Carrier-based Aircraft During Deck Landing Process

Abstract: The parameter matching characteristics of a carrier-based aircraft are important factors influencing landing safety. Based on the approach criteria, this paper studies the influence of the pilot field of view, the approach descending rate and the arresting distance on aircraft parameter matching characteristics under windless and calm sea conditions.The mat-ching envelope of the landing mass and speed on an initial state is given. The factors influencing the maximal landing mass and the methods of enlarging the parameter matching envelope are analyzed. The results indicate that the parameter match envelope is composed of the minimal and maximal landing speeds. The minimal speed is chiefly determined by the pilot field of view, while the maximal speed is primarily confined by the descending rate when the landing mass is small, and by the arresting distance when the landing mass is large. The maximal landing mass is mainly determined by the arresting system performance and pilot field of view. Increasing the arresting force and improving low-speed aero characteristics can increase allowable maximal landing mass with an enlarged envelope area, but changing the glide slope angle has little effect.
