Impact of Assembly Deflection Error on Contact Characteristics  of Orthogonal Face Gear Drive

Abstract: Theoretical analysis of the impact of assembly errors on orthogonal face gear drive is critical to the application of face gear drive. For this purpose the coordinates are built of the point contact orthogonal face gear drive which take into consideration its assembly deflection errors. The equations of flakes and fillets of the orthogonal face gear and the equation of the contact points about the orthogonal face gear drive are derived. By means of the solution method of principal curvatures and Boussinesq problems, the equations of the contact characteristics of contact points on the orthogonal face gear are developed. Based on these equations, an analysis is made on the impact of the position of contact points on the orthogonal face gear as well as the impact of the principal curvatures and contact characteristics of contact points on the orthogonal face gear.
