Abstract:

An integral equation for two-dimensional unsteady transonic small disturbance(TSD)flo\vs around oscillating airfoils is derived from the unsteady TSD equation. An artificial viscosity is introduced to make the integral equation solvable for flows with shocks. The integral equation is then solved by numerical quadrature method. Numerical results for a parabolic are airfoil of thickness ratio 0.06, a NACA 0012 airfoil and a NACA64A006 airfoil are presented and compared with experimental data and other numerical results in some cases. The discussions of the influences of artificial viscosity and computational domain toward the results are also given. The comparisons show that the integral equation method is satisfactory so far as the accuracy is concerned, and consumes less computer time and yields a fast convergence.
