Abstract: Based on the designed fundamental linear total energy flight control system, various nonlinear flight aItitude and speed control modes are further studied.First, the linear altitude and speed control loops are constructed and designed. Then, various nonlinear operational lim-itations are discussed and implemented in the system. The point-mass energy-state aircraft dy-namic characteristics when engine thrust reaches its limited value are studied, and the control priorities with different weights on either flight speed or flight path are implemented through adjusting the distribution of the certain total energy changing rate ability between flight speed and flight path control channels. Finally, digital simulations of this nonlinear muIti-variable control system are conducted with a Boeing-707 transport aircraft model, and satisfactory sys-tem performance is evaluated.
