Abstract: The meridian flow calculation including spanwise mixing is very important in the aerodynamic design and analysis of multi-stage axial cmpressor. In this paper, a set of theoretical equations in the meridian flow are used to depict the different factors of spanwise mixing on axial compressors.A tubulence model is proposed on the basis of a simplified 3-D shear. structure in compressors for their 2-D meridian flow calculations. Compressors are made between the result of calculation model and experimental data and good agreement is obtained. The model shows that the shear structure has significant effcets on the turbulent diffusion of the 2-D meridian flow field. Therefore, the 3-D flow shear structure must be considered in the meridian flow field calculation in practical use.
