EXPERIMENTAL INVESTIGATION ON THE TURBULENT COHERENT STRUCTURES OF LAMINAR SEPARATION FLOW OVER A BACKWARD-FACING STEP

Abstract: An experimental investigation was conducted with LDV and hydrogen bubble techniques in water flow. The shear layer thickness, the vorticity thickness, the maximum value of turbulence intensities, the turbulent coherent structure, the variations fo wall shear stress and the boundary layer shape factor were obtained. In the region of redevelopment a detailed analysis was first made for the streak structures in the near wall region, and the turbulent boundary layer was formed at (x-x r)/ h =20
