Abstract: A new abradable seal coating was investigated. Its composition was optimized by orthogonal tests and the cure process was optimized. The effects of composition and cure process on the properties of the abradable seal coating were investigated and the best composition and cure process were determined. The new abradable seal coating called BH abradable seal coating has better appearance and cool hot cycle resistance than the currently used abradable seal coating. It has little pores, the diameter of the pores is less than 1mm and the cool hot resistance is better. It spalled from the substrate after 38 cool hot cycles. The relations of compostion to properties were investigated. The appearance and hardness mainly depend on composition and cure process; the ability of cool hot resistance mainly depends on the difference of thermal expansion coefficient between coating and substrate. The lower the difference, the better the cool hot resistance.
