Abstract:

Unstructured Cartesian grid for complex geometries is generated based on Octree data structure. The projection method is applied near the body surface to make the grid bodyfitted. Jameson's finite volume method is extended to such a grid to solve the Euler equations. The computation of the flow past a fighter model shows a reduced CPU time for the grid generation, and a good convergence level reached for the flow computation due to the quality of the computational grids.
