Abstract: Based on magnetic field and frictional-clamping principle, a new modularization design concept is presented for the fixation system of paper honeycomb parts with complex shapes. The problem of controlling the magnetic field circuit existing in the method is solved using fixed modular, movable modular, modularized fixture, magnetic conductor and magnetic insulator. Clamping of paper honeycomb parts with complex contour on the modularized fixture is realized. Then, by theoretical analysis and finite element simulation, the force on the honeycomb grid in the fixation system is studied, the characteristic and reliability of the fixation system are checked, and also the influencing rules of parameters on the magnetic forces are analyzed, including height of magnetic body, height of fixed modular, height of ferrous powder and clearance between modules. Results of the simulation and experiments show that the modularized fixation system can fix the paper honeycomb parts with complex surface during machining process.
