Abstract: A highfidelity generalized method of cell (HFGMC) is used to build the relationship between the mechanical properties of a material and its topological microstructure, and genetic algorithm is used to optimize the microstructure. Optimization starts with random topological microstructures, and volume fraction of the material is constrained. Genetic algorithm is used to obtain a microstructure with extreme shear module or bulk module. The symmetry of microstructures is used to reduce the number of design variables, 〖JP+1〗which also results in a corresponding improvement of the crossbreed of the genetic algorithm to enhance the efficiency of optimization. An optimization of a singlephase material is performed to verify the effectiveness of the proposed method.
