Abstract: A fully automatic detector named "Two Step-Fitting Gaussian Function" aims at processing the output signals from spaceborne synthelic aperture radar (SAR)-along track interferometry (ATI) is proposed. Without the need to assume jointly Gaussian distributed data and derive a theoretical PDF for the interferogram, the new adaptive detection scheme automatically extracts moving targets from stationary clutter and noises. By this method the probability of false alarm Pfa is greatly reduced and the minimum detectable velocity (MDV) is investigated.

Key words: synthetic aperture radar, along track interferometry, ground moving target indication, minimum detectable velocity, probability of false alarm
