REFINED DELAMINATION MODEL FOR LAMINATED BEAMS

Abstract:

A refined delamination model for laminated composite beams is presented. A delaminated beam is divided into three areas and the displacement field of each area is a cubic function of the thickness coordinate.The continuity conditions of displacements and transverse shear stresses on the bonded interfaces, the delamination continuity on the debonded interfaces and the continuity conditions of displacements at the edges of debonded interfaces are assured. Its finite element model is established. The numerical examples show that the present delamination model is more accurate than those based on the classical theory and the first order shear deformation theory.
