THE RESEARCH OF INCREASED LIFT AND REDUCED DRAG FOR WING-TIP SAILS

Abstract: non-planar wing aerodynamic computation program was developed using the vor-tex lattices method.The aerodynamic computation and the design of optimized wing sails for aircraft with rectangular wing whose aspect ratio equals 8. 6 were completed.The tests in NH-2 low speed wind tunnel at Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics showed good a-greement between computation and test values.The wing sails with 3.1 percentage of essential wing area have observable efficiency in reducing induced drag. The factors of the induced drag were reduced by 20 percent.
