Abstract: The stress intensity factors are obtained for a semi-infinite stiffened plate with edge crack by use of the method of alternative iteration and the method of combination of complex stress functions containing unknown coefficients and variational principles. In the course of the analysis, the influence of rivet flexibility and the condition of the broken edge stiffener are taken into consideration. For some cases the curves of non-dimensional stress intensity factors which vary with the crack length are given.
