ANALYTICAL EXPRESSION OF DISSIPATION INTEGRAL FOR KINETIC ENERGY INTEGRAL EQUATION

Abstract: A dissipation integral method is developed for calcalating compressible turbulentboundary layers on planar bodies. An analytical expression of dissipation integral for kinetic energy integral equation is derived by two-layer eddy viscosity turbulence model and the power law of the velocity profile. The analytical expression depends on the local values of skin friction, shape factor, Mach number, and Reynolds number based on momentum thickness. The method is easy to use, and thus the calcalation of the turbulent boundary layers is significantly simplified. The analytical expression is in better agreement with experimental data than other theoretical results.
