Abstract: Based on the Bifurcation Analysis and Catastrophe Theory Methodology(BACTM), and by using the full six-degree-of-freedom nonlinear equations of motion, the characteristics of the equilibrium surfaces were analysed and the control techniques for aircraft spin recovery were studied in this paper. Some physical explanations were also given. With the employment of the Pontryagin Maximum Principle, the optimal treatment was carried out on the control history of spin recovery developed by BACTM, and the most rapid spin recovery control history was obtained. Based on this result, a suboptimal spin recovery technique has been founded.
