NUMERICAL CALCULATIONS OF DYNAMIC STRESS /NTENSITY FACTOR(DSIF) OF CENTER-CRACKED PLATE UNDER IMPACT LOADING

Abstract:

In this paper, the DSIF of center-cracked plate under impact loading was calculated by using 8-node isoparametric elements and 6-node distorted isoparametric elements of FEM. The results were compared with those of Chen and Aberson etc. It has been found that the results of this paper have higher accuracy and less computational time. Meanwhile, a relationship between the dynamic effective coefficient k (t) and static SIF was given. Futhermore, the effect of the material properties and geometric size of the plate was considered. The conclusions of this paper are very useful for structural fracture design under impact loading.
