Abstract: Having r ecognized the disadvantages of the earlier studies w hich mostly focused on the structur al surfaceg lued ceramics, the authors conducted the ex periment of active vibr ation control of composite material beam w ith theembedded piezoceramics using self identification and full st ate observer technique. With the help of embedded piezoelectr ic actuators and sensors, t he dynamic state space model of the composite mater ial beam is identified using theon-line model analysis method. Thereafter, the LQR controller wit h full state observer is dev elo ped to suppress thev ibration of the structure. The exper iment r esult shows that this metho d is effective and feasible in engineer ing pr actice. I n the demonstrated experiment, the vibration can be r educed up to 20 dB.
