Abstract: The design method of weak structures for frangible composite canister covers is provided and their mechanical properties are studied by numerical simulation. First, the whole frangible cover is simulated, which provides the boundary conditions and loads for the analysis of the partial model for the structure of the weak area. Then, the combination of the results of the partial numerical simulation and the relevant theory of intension contributes to the prediction of the corresponding breakage pressure of a frangible cover. The experiment of the pieces of a frangible cover proves the veracity of the design and theoretical methods. Finally, a discussion is made concerning the impact of the parameters of the weak structure on breakage pressure.
