Abstract: A numerical method for vibration analysis of Hoff's sandwich plates is presented. By use of the static fundamental solutions as the kernel function, the boundary integral equations for vibration analysis of Hoff's sandwich plates are formulated by the method of weighted residuals;then the boundary integral equation presented are solved by the mixed method of BEM and FEM. In the procedure of numerical implementation, the unknown functions of boundary and domain are interpolated linearly to improve accuracy. A few of examples are studied to demonstrate the correctness of the method presented. The numerical results show that the present formulation and numerical procedure has little unknowns, high accuracy and efficiency. The errors between the present solutions and the exact solutions for low frequency are not greater than 1 percent. The method presented can be applied to analyze the complex problems of Hoff' s sandwich plates in engineering.
