Abstract: The plies in a laminated structure can be stacked in more than one sequence throughout the thickness. The stacking sequence can have a significant influence on the carrying capacity of the laminated structure. In order to try and assess this effect on the basic of the past research at home and abroad, the synthetical study on the ef: eat of stacking sequence on the carrying capacity of the laminated structure was conducted the common layup of the jointing area, [0/±45/90] = (50:40:10), and the three ordinary sequence. The investigated carrying capacity included the unnotched tensile and compression strength,open-hole tensile and compression strength and bolted-joint strength. The results of test show that the homogeneous stacking laminate was the best in the carrying capacity in most case. For the layup placed 90° plies at the surface, the carrying capacity of all of the specimens was always lowest. For the layup which ±45° plies were grouped in a balanced pair, compression strength relatively poor.
