Abstract:

Metal bulk forming is a large nonlinear deformation process in geometry and physics. This paper reviews briefly the developmental history of 3D numerical simulation techniques for the metal bulk forming process, then, summarizes comprehensively its current research status and priority research areas inland and abroad. Researchers have turned their steps from macro, singleness and decentralization, and common type simulation to micro, coupling and integration, and specialty type simulation. Four new methods on numerical simulation are presented, which are meshless method, adaptive FEM method, rigid plastic finite boundary element method, and feature based FEM method. At the end of the paper, an attempt is made to forecast the future progress of the numerical simulation.
