Fault Diagnosis for the Fly-by-Wire System Based on Artificial Neural Network and Expert System

Abstract: Based on the artificial neural network and expert system theories, a new fault diagnosis method for the fly-by-wire system is put forward and applied to the development of a fault diagnosis module for a operational aircraft with fly-by-wire flight control system. The module can be used to find out the fault parts of the fly-by-wire system correctly and quickly in the physical simulations and practical diagnosis cases, and hence, the provided idea and approach are proved to be suitable for fault diagnosis. Moreover, this fault diagnosis method can also be applied to other similar aircraft and serves as a new effective method for the fault diagnosis of modern aircraft.
