Numerical Simulation of Sound Generation and Radiation from a 2D Parallel Shear Layer

Abstract: The category 5 problem - Generation and Radiation of Acoustic Waves from a 2-D Shear Layer. is solvedbased on the 2-D linearized Euler equation. T he dispersion-relation-preserving (DRP) finite difference scheme is applied for spatial discretizat ion and the low-dissipation and low-dispersion Runge-Kutta( LDDRK) scheme is ut ilizedfor the t ime integration. Special attent ion is paid to t he implementation of the non-reflect ing far2field boundary coodit ions. The numerical results agree well with the analytical solutions provided by NASA GLENN research center.
