Abstract:

The inhibitory action of a proper amount of sulfur and sulfuret in fuel oil on the carbon corrosion of the nickel base super alloys has been confirmed by the burning experiment of a small single flame tube. According to the mechanism of carbon corrosion and principle of catalyst poisoning, the inhibitory mechanism of the sulfur and sulfuret on the carbon corrosion of the nickel base super alloy has been studied. To prevent carbon corrosion of nickel base alloys, suggestions to control the amount of sum sulfur in fuel oil and to improve structural design and to select material rationally have been posed.

Key words: sulfur, sulfuret, nickel base alloy, carbon corrosion, principle of catalyst poisoning
