SIMULATION OF LIQUID ALUMINUM INFILTRATION IN FABRICATION OF POROUS ALUMINUM

Abstract: High Reynolds number infiltration of liquid aluminum in porous media has been investigated through hydraulic simulating test, a mathematical model of the high Reynolds number infiltration of liquid aluminum in porous media has been put forward, and the infiltration rule is discussed with the numerical calculating of the temperature traverse. It is found that the infiltration possesses second order non linear characteristics. The numerically calculated results based on the model agree with the hydraulic simulation and aluminum alloy infiltration. The high speed infiltration under medium pressure has been proposed, and porous aluminum alloy with thin holes (diameter 0.4mm) has been fabricated.
