Abstract:

The handling qualities of combat aircraft decline sharply when operating at high angles of attack. Wing rock phenomenon is one of the salient factors which contribute to this declination. In this paper, an adaptive control strategy based on neural networks is proposed which can implement efficient control while having little prior knowledge of the controlled plant. Simulation of a slender delta wing combat aircraft model with the unstable wing rock problem attests the efficiency of this control strategy.
