Abstract: at% amorphous alloys prepared by melt spinning is studied by differential scanning calorimetry. Three or four stages of transformation from amorphous to equilibrium state can be distinguished at heating rate 1~40K/min. Apparent activation energies are calculated according to Kissinger method, Ozawa method and Arrkenius equation. An amorphous phase with high structural stability is obtained in the vicinity of Al83Y10Ni7. The isothermal crystallization kinetics of the first stage, ranged 0. 15~0. 85, is found to be in agreement with John-Mell-Avrami equation with n=2. 5. Nucleation and growth during isothermal crystallization of the first stage of Al83Y10Ni7 amorphous are approached by introducing the concepts of local Avrami exponent and local activation energy.
