NUMERCAL SIMULATION FOR THREE-DIMENSIONAL CASTINGS IN DIRECTIONAL SOLIDIFICATION PROCESS Ⅱ——The BEM Solution to The DS Process in Transient State

Abstract: The Boundary Element Method (BEM)is successfully applied to the three-dimensional numerical simulation of directional solidification process in transientstate. The simulation program is run in the computer and the solidification process is observed at the terminal; many important solidification parameters are obtained. The results show that the simulation predicts correctly the tendency of the temperature change and heat flux in the DS castings. The output from the computer about the distribution of the volume fraction of solid in mushy zone, and the solidification rate are almost the same as those obtained in DS experiment.
