Abstract: A super-element method based on the common finite element model is developed to analyze the vibration characteristics of structures. This method transforms a common complex static finite element model into a dynamic one which can reflect the whole characteristics of the structures. The saper-element defined here possesses double properties of sub-structure and harmonious finite element. Some simplified reduction methods are used in the internal domains of the super-elements, and rigid super-points or elastic super-points are introduced on the boundary areas. The super-elements which have three or four rigid super-points are also formed. This lays the foundation of dynamic finite element modeling and achieves the consistence of modeling between static and dynamic states. Some numerical examples verify that the super-element method is an accurate description for the dynamic finite element model, has high efficiency, and has good suitability in engineering structure analysis.
