Abstract: The continuous carbon fiber reinforced aluminium matrix composites with tensile strength to 800MPa fabricated by casting are dealt with. PAN-1 carbon fibers coated with composite coating (SiC + Ni)are arranged in an investment casting mould in tows. The mould is placed in a pressure-regulated casting equipment and infiltrated with molten Al-7Si-0.35Mg alloy under the condition of air pressure of 0.75MPa and vacuum of 4000Pa. The bahavior of the composite coatings and the advantages of tow-shape arrangement of fibers to infiltration of molten metal are discussed.
