Abstract: Description is given of a complex variable method (CVM)for investigation of the stress intensity factors (SIF) in anisotropic plates with inner cracks. In this work acracked plate is decomposed into two subregions with edge cracks. According to the theory of anisotropic elasticity the stress and displacement series which satisfy all basic equationsand stress-free boundary conditions on crack surfaces are established.By using a generalized variational principle about multi-regions to satisfy the remaining boundary and interface conditions, the stress and displacement fields as well as SIF can be determined. This method presents an effective approach to solve both of symmetric and non-symmetric problems on geometry and loading.Numerical studies have revealed that the convergent results: can be given by aorelatively simple program which reduces data manipulation and computer time.
