AN ANALYTICAL MODEL OF RESIDUAL STRESS FIELD INTRODUCED BY SHOT PEENING AND ITS EXPERIMENTAL VERIFICATION

Abstract:

According to Hertz elastic contact theory and elastic-plastic deformation theory, a simple analytical model for calculating residual stress field under 100% peening coverage condition was proposed in this paper. After six kinds of shot peening of 40G steel with different heat treatment conditions, the residual stress distributions were measured. The experimental data coincide quite well with calculated curves.
